Todd Spitzer, an aspirant for the seat of the Orange County District Attorney announced his challenge of the current D.A., Tony Rakauckas. The seat is up for grabs in 2014.
Why is there such a disparity in the makeup of political seats at the county level? Are these the only two visible candidates that just happen to be in the GOP? And why is the entire Orange County Board of Supervisors Republican? The answer may lie in the past, this county has Republican roots that run generations deep. While Northern California, was more progressive in places like San Francisco and UC Berkely, Orange County was the antithesis.
